KAW Hero Tumbarumba Shire Murray River

The Tumbarumba Shire extends from Mount Kosciuszko and the town of Khancoban in the south, to the town of Tumbarumba and the hamlet of Laurel Hill in the north, and west to the Murray River. The Visitor Centre provides information on accommodation, road conditions, and events and attractions.

The Tumbarumba Museum is located in the Visitor Centre, with permanent displays on the gold mining and cattleman’s heritage, as well as a fascinating display on the history and events surrounding the Southern Cloud aircraft that crashed in the mountains near Tumbarumba in 1931.

The Tumbarumba Visitor Centre provides DVD viewings of the Snowy Mountains region, and stocks local produce, a small range of merchandise, books on the Snowy Mountains region, and topographic maps.
