Murray 1 Power Station and Visitors Centre

Murray 1 Information Centre External

The Murray 1 Power Station and Visitors Centre is located only 10 minutes from Khancoban on the Alpine Way. The Murray 1 Power Station is the second largest power station in the Snowy Mountains Scheme, with 10 turbines each capable of producing enough electricity to supply over 95,000 homes.

Offering an exciting interactive experience, the visitors centre has models of generator units and interactive displays.

BBQ’s and picnic areas by the water are available with light refreshments also available in the café. Take some time out to enjoy a coffee while keeping an eye out for platypus swimming in the pondage.

Why not go on a power station inspection? These inspections provide an ideal opportunity to view the power station from the viewing gallery and learn more about how Snowy Hydro contributes to the National Electricity Market. Inspections are for approximately 20 minutes and are run daily at 11am and 2pm.

Come and experience this mighty Scheme and integral part of Australia’s water and power industries. This is an impressive location and well worth a look!
